End of Life Care

Compassionate Euthanasia Services at Tsolum Veterinary Hospital

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most difficult decisions a family can make.

At Tsolum Veterinary Hospital, we understand the emotional weight of this moment, and our team is here to support you with empathy, respect, and kindness every step of the way.

What to expect:

  • Private Setting: Euthanasias usually take place in our quiet, thoughtfully designed euthanasia pod with a couch and a peaceful garden view.  Windows are tinted for your privacy.

  • Minimal Stress: Paperwork and payment are completed ahead of time so you can leave quietly and privately when you're ready.

  • Gentle Sedation: Your pet will be gently sedated beforehand to help them relax. You may choose to be present for this or have it done privately in our treatment area.

  • Your Pace, Your Space: Whether you wish to stay for the entire process or step away, we’ll support your wishes. We also offer options such as outdoor euthanasia in our garden or in your vehicle for large dogs with mobility issues. In special cases, home euthanasia may be arranged.

We are proud to partner with Honor Your Pet Crematorium to offer a variety of aftercare services including private or communal cremation, keepsake urns, paw prints, and fur clippings.

If you're uncertain about the right time, we an offer a Quality of Life appointment with one of our veterinarians, who can assess how well your pet is doing and help you make decisions on their care.  Many families find the Lap of Love Quality of Life Scale to be a helpful resource.
