Pre-Procedure Instructions

Please read the following instructions carefully. If you have any questions regarding the instructions in this email or the procedure itself do not hesitate to call. 

 

DROP OFF

  • Dogs must be on a leash, cats must be in a carrier 

  • If there is someone at the door, please give them 6ft of space

  • If you have a farm dog, please bath your dog the night before the procedure

 

FASTING INSTRUCTIONS

For Adult Dogs and Cats over 6 months of age

  • No food after MIDNIGHT the night before surgery 

  • Please offer your pet a snack, or small meal before bedtime the night before surgery. 

  • Free access to water

 

For Puppies and Kittens under 6 months of age or for Toy Breeds under 5kg in weight

  • Please feed them a late dinner the night before surgery, or ensure they have a snack or small meal before midnight. 

  • Between 6 am - 7 am, please feed them a small snack or treat (no more than 1 teaspoon of food)

  • Free access to water

 

COMFORT MEDICATIONS FOR DOG SURGERIES

  • Please ensure to give your pet the comfort medications at bedtime the night before the surgery, and again two hours prior to drop-off time.

  • For spay surgeries, the Cerenia is to be given 2 hours prior to drop off time please.

  • For cats, we administer these medications on arrival at the hospital on the day of surgery..

 

ADMINISTERING CURRENT MEDICATIONS

  • If your pet is on any medication, please continue to give them unless otherwise directed. 

  • Please be sure to tell us what medication your pet received and when during their drop off. 

  • If your pet is diabetic, please contact us for specific directions.

 

QUESTIONS YOU WILL BE ASKED WHEN YOU DROP OFF YOUR PET

On the morning of your pet’s procedure, we will need to gather some important information from you. This includes details such as when your pet last ate, whether you would like a complimentary nail trim or microchip, and if you consent to having your pet’s photo posted on social media. We will also ask about any current medications your pet is taking and when they were last administered. Additionally, in the event of a medical emergency during the procedure, please let us know if you consent to us taking necessary life-saving measures, including CPR and medication.  

 

PAYMENT

Full payment for the procedure is required at time of discharge from the hospital.
